Stewart leads Dunkirk to win at Global Concepts

OBSERVER Staff Report

The Dunkirk Marauders found themselves in the win column for the first time this season, as they took down Global Concepts, 73-57 on Friday after a masterful performance from one of the team’s standouts.

Dunkirk star senior Earl Stewart, who was medically cleared on Friday, made his season debut in a big way. Stewart put up 44 points, to go with nine rebounds, eight assists and seven steals, as he displayed all of his talents and every tool in his tool box. Dunkirk coach Luke Gullo said Stewart has been waiting for this movement.

“He’s been so patient, he’s done everything we’ve asked, and tonight it was time for him to play,” Gullo said.

Chris Ortiz added 10 points for Dunkirk, while Tim Brown scored seven. Dunkirk fired on all cylinders led by Stewart, who was just three points shy of the school record of 47 points, held by Vinny Bomasuto.

The Marauders won’t have a game next week, but will return to action the following week, as they take on Westfield on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
