Fredonia wrestling defeats Randolph

OBSERVER Staff Report

The Fredonia Hillbillies returned home after a challenging weekend at the Pioneer Duals tournament to host Randolph on Tuesday in a high school wrestling contest at Fredonia High School. The results for Fredonia were favorable, as the Hillbillies came away with a 58-19 victory.

“We had a good turnout and good energy at the match,” said Fredonia coach Joe Santilli.

Jetzial Baez-Morales, Dalton Gardner, Cole Golembieski and Yanni Acevedo all won by pinfall for Fredonia on Tuesday. Hunter Larson and Michael Ball each won by technical falls.

Fredonia also collected close to 200 pounds of peanut butter to donate to the Friendly Kitchen at Rural Ministries in Dunkirk, according to Santilli.

The Hillbillies hit the road again this weekend for the Southern Tier Officials tournament at Salamanca on Friday and Saturday.
