FREDONIA — On Senior Night in Fredonia, the Hillbillies fell to the visiting Frewsburg Bears by a final score of 127-54, Thursday at Fredonia High School, but it wasn’t all bad for the home team. Senior Matt Brockelbank qualified for the Section VI championship meet in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.52. That time was good enough to win on Thursday, one of two victories for the Fredonia senior. Brockelbank also won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.77.

Frewsburg won every other event in the pool on Thursday, but another solid Fredonia showing was had by the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ronan Murphy, Nick Wittmeyer, Finn Frerichs and Brockelbank, which finished second with a time of 4:04.49. Murphy took second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.77 and in the 200-yard IM in 2:31.82, while Wittmeyer took second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:09.29 and Frerichs also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:14.37. The 200-yard medley relay team of Frerichs, Brockelbank, Murphy and Andrew Allenson also took second with a time of 2:00.22.

Fredonia is back in action on Tuesday at Panama.
