Hillbillies boys bowlers finish second at Sectionals

CHEEKTOWAGA — The Fredonia Hillbillies boys bowling team finished second overall in both Division II and in Class C at the Sectional Tournament on Wednesday at Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga. In both cases, only Depew bested the Hillbillies.

Fredonia racked up 5,907 total pins on the day. The Hillbillies had a morning linescore of 1,144-1,018-973-3,135, good for first place at the time. Depew made up ground in the afternoon, as Fredonia followed up with an afternoon linescore of 955-870-947-2,772. Depew’s final pin total ended at 6,150, winning the Sectional and Class crowns by 243 pins.

Fredonia’s Jacob Patterson finished 22nd of all bowlers at the event, regardless of class size, with 1,298 total pins. His morning series was 267-217-203-687 and his afternoon series was 215-171-225-611. Jacob Marsh was 64th overall with 1,194 total pins, including a morning series of 279-182-232-693. Bryson Kolassa was third on the team, 72nd overall, with 1,177 total pins. His morning series was 214-236-194-644. Mike Dispense was also in the top 100, with 1,147 pins, good for 83rd overall. His morning series was 180-224-205-609. All four of Fredonia’s top bowlers had lower scores in the afternoon.

Dunkirk finished ninth in Class C and 14th in Division II with 5,435 total pins. Dunkirk’s morning linescore was 839-932-907-2,678. The afternoon linescore for Dunkirk was 984-938-835-2,757. Trevor Skelly led Dunkirk with 1,208 total pins, good for 58th overall. His linescore in the morning was 188-176-220-584 and in the afternoon was 202-232-190-624. Jaxson Pencek was 62nd overall with 1,200 total pins. His morning linescore was 214-179-225-618 and his afternoon featured a 244 game and a 582 series score.

The highest individual bowler in the OBSERVER coverage area was Nate Barlette-Dye of Silver Creek, who finished tied for 15th overall with 1,313 total pins. His morning linescore was 209-194-201-604 and his afternoon series was 247-267-195-709. Silver Creek as a team finished fifth in Class D and 13th in Division II with 5,473 total pins. Dan Paterson added 1,116 total pins for Silver Creek, tied for 95th overall.

Gowanda was third in Class D and 10th in Division II with 5,529 total pins. David Goodemote of Gowanda was 32nd overall with 1,254 total pins. His linescore in the morning was 232-254-204-690 and in the afternoon he had a 238 game. Dan Marrocco of Gowanda was 36th with 1,244 total pins. His morning series was 162-217-215-594 and in the afternoon was 221-224-205-650. Aaron Barlow of Gowanda was 93rd overall with 1,128 total pins.
