OBSERVER Staff Report

The Fredonia Hillbillies celebrated the past with throwback jerseys on Saturday. They celebrated the present by honoring the senior class in their final regular season home game at Fredonia High School. And, of course, Fredonia’s future looks pretty bright, too.

Junior forward Tyler Putney and sophomore forward Nick Whitfield led the Hillbillies to a 77-55 win over Kenmore West, Saturday at Fredonia High School, in a non-league boys basketball game that featured the recognition of the senior class.

Putney led the way with 29 points, along with 12 rebounds and four blocks, while Whitfield added 17 points, 13 rebounds and six assists to pace the Hillbillies. Senior Kaleb Rybij had 12 points and three rebounds, while junior Dom Gullo had six points.

Fredonia seniors Rybij, Alec Schrader, Patrick Reading and Colton Kuzdzal were honored at the game.

The Hillbillies (15-4) have one final game in the regular season on Wednesday at MST Prep at 6 p.m.
