Hurricane’s Moss, Mills combine for PBL’s top honors
OBSERVER Staff Report
One of the most successful seasons in Chautauqua Hurricane program history ended prematurely, before the team had a chance at its first championship. However, that didn’t stop the Hurricane from reeling in plenty of awards.
The Premier Basketball League revealed its top honors earlier this week and the two biggest individual awards both came home to Chautauqua County. Hurricane head coach Jerome Moss was named Coach of the Year in the PBL, while center Kofi Mills was named League MVP.
Mills was also named as a All-PBL First Team selection, as was teammate Sheldon Zablotny. Larry Rivers, the longest tenured Hurricane player, made the Second Team. Ramone Eager represented the Hurricane on the Honorable Mention list.
The Hurricane finished the year with a record of 11-3 at the time of the league’s shutdown because of COVID-19. Chautauqua was in first place in the league at the time.
