The annual Langford Northeast Nationals Tractor Pull event has been canceled.
On Thursday, the decision was made public in a press release obtained by The OBSERVER. The event was originally scheduled for Aug. 1 and 2.
Members of the Langford-New Oregon Volunteer Fire Company made the decision to cancel the event “out of an abundance of caution and uncertainty of state and local conditions in the month of August.”
“We thoroughly love bringing all the people to Langford for our event and do not want to compromise anyone. Protecting and serving our community is our first priority and we take our responsibility seriously,” the release said.
The Northeast Nationals is the group’s major fundraiser which allows the fire company to function. It has been a staple in the community since it was first established in 1946. “With all the issues, our sponsors can use our support to get through this challenging time,” the release said. “We appreciate the support of our fans, pullers, sponsors, volunteers, friends, family, the National Tractor Pullers Association, Empire State Pullers and WNY Pro Pulling Series.”
The release concluded by urging fans to mark their calendars for the 75th anniversary edition of the Langford Northeast Nationals Tractor Pull event set for July 31 and Aug. 1, 2021.
