Swabik finishes 3rd in Jacksonville decathlon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sherman’s John Swabik placed third in the men’s decathlon at the Jacksonville Athletic Club Combined Events Championships over the weekend, finishing no lower than fourth in any of the events.

Representing the CSP Wolfpack, Swabik’s performance was highlighted by first-place finishes in the men’s 1,500 meters (4:42.54) and javelin (47.52 meters).

He also finished second in the men’s high jump (1.84 meters) and long jump (6.34 meters) and received third-place honors in the men’s shot (11.51 meters), pole vault (3.47 meters) and discus (32.60 meters).

His fourth-place finishes came in the 100 meters (11.73), 400 meters (53.69) and 110 meter hurdles (16.83), giving him 6,105 points. Devin Barnett, representing Velocity Track, was the winner with 6,526 points followed in second place by Bryce Kazmaier of Jets Track Club with 6,185.
