Tourney raises $1K for CWC
LAKEWOOD — The 20th annual WZKA 106.9 Kiss-FM Media One Radio Group Tavern Charity Golf Tournament was held on Sunday, Aug. 30 at Maplehurst Country Club.
The scramble event, which was sponsored by RS Motors, included 27 four-man teams and 108 golfers, with proceeds going to benefit the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy.
The CWC is a local non-profit working to preserve and enhance the water quality, scenic beauty and ecological health of the lakes, streams, wetlands and watersheds of the Chautauqua region.
John Jablonski III, CWC executive director said, “It was a great day of golf, and we are very appreciative to Media One for choosing CWC as the beneficiary of this year’s tournament. We are also thankful to all of the players and sponsors who participated in the event in support of furthering our lake and watershed conservation programs.”
The tournament raised $1,000 for the CWC, which will help support its efforts to prevent excessive plant growth and algae blooms in our region’s lakes by working with landowners to implement pollution prevention practices and undertake other land conservation activities.
