FREDONIA — Depth proved to be the difference as Fredonia posted a narrow 93-87 win over Dunkirk/Westfield/Forestville in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association boys swimming on Thursday.

Adam Fred was a double winner for the visitors, taking the 50-yard freestyle (24.03) and the 100-yard butterfly (59.68) while Matt Dunn posted a come-from-behind win in the 200-yard medley (2:23.27) and also won the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.12). Steven Zentz won the 100-yard freestyle (58.55) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.14).

New swimmer, Trestin Briggs, turned in a good showing for Dunkirk/Westfield/Forestville, which claimed 10 of 12 events, recording two third-place finishes and being part of a winning 400 freestyle relay.

First-place finishes for Fredonia were recorded by Connor Rankin in diving and by the 200-yard freestyle relay.
