CHEEKTOWAGA — The Dunkirk girls bowling team proved it was the best in Section VI.

Again.

The Marauders won their third straight Class C championship Wednesday at Thruway Lanes.

But this time, Dunkirk turned in the top overall score across the entire section.

The Marauders rolled games of 905, 853, 879 and 936 for a team total series of 3,479.

“Unfortunately for the second year, these ladies cannot defend their state title due to COVID-19,” Dunkirk coach Donna Kubera said. “But with that in mind, they are still reigning state champs.”

Dunkirk’s Rachel Glowniak was the top bowler in the tournament with games of 218, 189, 255 and 202 on her way to a series of 864.

The Marauders’ Olivia Corbett was 10th with a 173-148-174-185-680 and Makayla Pasierb was 14th with a 179-143-152-186-660.

“This win tops off an absolutely outstanding career for Dunkirk’s three seniors — the three amigos — Olivia, Makayla and Rachel,” Kubera said. “I have been one of the most blessed coaches ever to have coached such wonderful young ladies.”
