Dunkirk girls clinch Division 1 Thursday; Forestville girls lock up D2 Friday

For the fifth straight year, Dunkirk High School has won the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls bowling title.

The Marauders, who downed Falconer on Thursday, 4-0, finished the season 32-0 for the second straight year and boast a cumulative 181-3 mark over the last five seasons.

“I couldn’t be more proud of a group of young women,” Coach Donna Kubera said. “My three seniors — Makayla (Pasierb), Olivia (Corbett) and Rachel (Glowniak) — have led this program to where it is today, Hopefully, next week, they can bring home a third Section VI title to finish off their amazing run.”

Leading the way on Thursday was Pasierb, who fired a 243-172-208-623. Other scores were Glowniak 159-222-216-597; Summer Clark 159-191-178-528; Corbett 199-147-173-519; and Tayler Skelly 175-150.

Hannah Cross paced Falconer with a 163-170-197-530. Other scores were Rachel Himes 150-156-152-458; Kaitlyn Swan 146-126-159-431; Amelia Sprague 113-130-179-422; and Rachel Wallace 120-137.

LADY HORNETS CLAIM TITLE

The Forestville girls bowling competed an undefeated Division 2 bowling season on Thursday with a 4-0 sweep of Maple Grove (0-10) at Jamestown Bowling Company.

The hosts hit a 633-622-671-1,926 to finish the year with a 40-0 record. Dakota VanArsdale hit a 205-193-538 and Lilly VanArsdale a 189-509.

Elizabeth Quadt had a 393 and Cambria Fiorella hit a 351 for Maple Grove.

The Red Dragons (4-5-1) were 4-0 winners over Forestville (3-7) in the boys match with a 606-666-606-1,878. William Pavlock hit a 154-432 and Logan Crist had a 153-427 for the winners.

Forestville finished at 576-574-603-1,753 as Brayden Smith hit a 223-606 and Aydon Heim 370.

CHRISTENSEN SMASHES 744

JAMESTOWN — Jamestown (33-7) was a 4-0 winner over Southwestern (2-34) in Division 1 boys bowling action at Jamestown Bowling Company thanks to a linescore of 1,135-1,027-1,016-3,178, while the Trojans finished with a 467-400-465-1,332.

Leading the way for the winners was Kyle Christensen with a 278-234-232-744, Brandon Michael had a 258-235-225-718, Riley Piazza hit a 213-224-626 and Jack Christensen rolled a 214-211-604.

The Red Raiders (8-24) were 4-0 winners in the girls contest as well with a 580-681-614-1,875. Southwestern (0-32) finished with a 493-445-523-1,461.

Leading the winners was Abbie Derby with a 182-462 while Addison Cappalino hit a 432.

Natalie Milner rolled a 471 for the Trojans.

DUNKIRK BOYS PREVAIL

The Dunkirk boys swept Chautauqua Lake at Lucky Lanes, 4-0, courtesy of a linescore of 885-874-845-2,604 compared to 484-449-402-1,335 for the Thunderbirds.

Leading the way for Dunkirk (28-12) was Thomas Shaffer with a 163-178-181-522. Gabriel Valentine rolled a 167, Robert Kozlowski had a 194-181-544 and Jaxson Pencek hit a 193-194.

For Chautauqua Lake, Chandler Nuse had a 142 and Haylee Falco a 124.
