Jamestown CC freshman named NJCAA Region 3 POW

OBSERVER File Photo by Scott Kindberg Jamestown Community College freshman Nadara O’Dell had no trouble adjusting to collegiate basketball as she was named the NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week for her performances last week.

JAMESTOWN – Freshman forward Nadara O’Dell (Dunkirk /Dunkirk High School) is one of three Jayhawk athletes to earn NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week honors for their performances last week.

In two games, O’Dell helped the Jayhawks women’s basketball team to a 1-1 record on the season. During that span, O’Dell averaged 28.5 points, grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.5 percent from the floor.

In her collegiate debut, O’Dell netted 30 points in a 111-102 loss against No. 20 Lackawanna College on Saturday. Twenty-four hours later, Odell backed that game up with a double-double performance in an 85-77 win over Harcum College. Against the Bears, Odell scored 27 points while grabbing 10 rebounds (six offense, four defensive).

¯ Freshman Trenton Donahue (DuBois, Pennsylvania/DuBois Area) had a stellar collegiate wrestling debut against NCAA Division III Thiel College, picking up two victories. Donahue, competing in the 14-pound weight class, claimed his first victory over Hunter Martz via fall at the 5:45 mark. In exhibition competition, Donahue faced Martz once again. In this match, Donahue came away with an 8-0 major decision.

¯ Redshirt-sophomore guard Isaac Allen (Houston /Texas Connection Academy) started the season, scoring 28 points in an 88-83 setback against Lackawanna College. Allen went 11-for-16 from the floor while going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Allen also grabbed four rebounds to go along with two steals.
