Seniors shine as Cougars top Cattaraugus-Little Valley

SINCLAIRVILLE — Cassadaga Valley jumped out to a 26-4 first-quarter lead and never looked back en route to a 59-42 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West girls basketball win Wednesday.

It was Senior Night inside the Art Asquith Gymnasium and the Cougars (3-8, 1-6 CCAA D2 West) honored Brielle LeBaron, Sarah Meder and Kaylee Pattyson.

Pattyson finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, six blocked shots and four steals. Meder had 14 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and a blocked shot while LeBaron finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.

“These three seniors played great tonight,” Cassadaga Valley coach Todd Fryberger said. “It’s been a lot fun coaching them.”

Abby Minnekine led the Timberwolves (2-5, 1-4 CCAA D2 East) with 22 points while Onalee Osgood grabbed eight rebounds.

HVIZDZAK HAS BIG NIGHT

RANDOLPH — Sydney Hvizdzak had 33 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead Randolph past Sherman, 55-36, in nonleague play.

Alyssa Adams had 10 rebounds and four blocked shots; Payton Morrison had 8 points and nine rebounds; and Kyra Pence had 7 points and four assists for the Cardinals (11-0, 7-0 CCAA D1 East).

Mackenzie Gratto led the Wildcats (7-3, 6-1 CCAA D2 West) with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Amaya Lewczyk and Jenna Fisher each grabbed eight rebounds.
