Cassadaga Valley falls to Panama in return from COVID-19 quarantine

PANAMA — Maddie Johnson had 31 assists, two digs and a kill while Jo Bailey had 14 kills and four blocks as Panama defeated Cassadaga Valley, 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association girls volleyball Thursday.

The match was the Cougars’ first since being quarantined due to COVID-19 protocols.

Sarah Harvey had eight kills and four digs; Ashlyn Harvey had five kills, five digs and two blocks; Lilly Odell had five kills and three digs; and Marra Hovey had nine digs and three aces for the Panthers (9-1, 9-0).

Brielle LeBaron had five kills, three blocks and three aces; Kaylee Pattyson had three kills, a block and two aces; and Madison Ring had two kills and three aces for the Cougars (2-3).

Panama won the jayvee matchup, 25-18, 25-18.

T’BIRDS SWEEP BROCTON

BROCTON — Hannah Group served eight aces to go along with three kills and a dig as Chautauqua Lake swept Brocton, 25-3, 25-8, 25-3 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association girls volleyball Thursday.

Mallory Morrison had five kills, a dig and five assists; Ava Olson had three kills, five aces and six assists; and Alex Reyda had two kills and an ace for the Thunderbirds (7-1).

Jalyn Fred had two aces, an assist and two digs while Juli Smith had a kill, two blocks and two digs for the Bulldogs (0-8).

Chautauqua Lake won the jayvee matchup.

DELLOW PACES WESTFIELD

WESTFIELD — Haleigh Dellow had nine aces, five kills and a block to lead Westfield past Silver Creek, 25-9, 25-16, 25-18.

Makartnee Mortimer had four aces, a kill, two assists, a block and 10 digs; Keara Kincaid had five aces, eight kills, an assist and two digs; and Tanleigh Bestine had an ace, four kills, 14 assists, a block and a dig for the Wolverines (3-5).

Brianna McEwen had two kills, two blocks and three aces; Ryleigh Lawton had five digs; and Yanna Mott had 12 assists and three aces for the Black Knights (1-8).

Westfield won its first jayvee match of the year.
