Ed Tofil wins again in Wednesday Travel League

WATTSBURG, Pa. — The Wednesday Travel League played in drizzling rain and temperatures in the low 40s at Scenic Heights Golf Course last week.

Ed Tofil won his second straight event with the low round of 80, edging Wayne Stoughton (81) by one stroke. Mike Wolfe finished third with 84. Tofil led the front nine with 40 while Stoughton matched Tofil with 40 for the low back nine. In the B Flight, Joe Bifaro was the winner on a tiebreaker with Bob Thompson. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Lenny Leszkowicz.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight, Tofil (No.3), Stoughton (Nos. 5, 16, 17), and John Waterman (Nos. 8, 10); B Flight, Thompson (Nos. 2, 9), Gary Haase (No. 7), Pat Weaver (No.8), Jack Hood (No. 13), and Bifaro (No.16). Closest to the pin were Stoughton (Nos.1, 3, 14) and Tofil (No. 18).

Top point winners were Stoughton (31), Tofil (9), and Waterman, Thompson, and Bifaro (6 each). Season points leaders: 1. Stoughton (42), 2. Tofil(37), 3. Pete Pinkoski (28), 4. Haase (20), 5. Don Kujawa, Dave Wallace and Waterman (11 each), 8. Dave Franklin and Bill Aldrich (10 each), 10.Thompson and Bifaro (6 each).

This week the league will travel to Cable Hollow Golf Course in Russell, Pennsylvania. The first tee time is at 10:10 a.m.
