Fredonia State teams take to the road

GENESEO — Fredonia State men’s and women’s track & field competed over the weekend in the SUNY Geneseo Roundtable Invitational.

On Friday, Toby Onuoha finished third in the men’s long jump with a leap of 12.80 meters (42 feet).

On Saturday, Eleanor Clarke had SUNYAC qualifying throws in the women’s javelin (27.81 meters) and the women’s discus (32.55 meters), Liz Gloss ran a personal-best women’s 1,500 meters (5:35.18), and Collin Barmore had a strong double workout of 2:01.02 in the men’s 800 meters and 4:20.29 in the men’s 1,500 meters.

Next up for the Blue Devils is a trip to the University of Buffalo next Saturday.

BASEBALL

BLUE DEVILS SWEPT

OSWEGO — Fredonia State dropped both ends of a SUNYAC baseball doubleheader Saturday to Oswego State, 17-3 and 15-6.

A triple by Tylor Murphy was among the five hits the Blue Devils managed in Game 1. Johnny Genau doubled and singled, and Tyler Phillips and Brian Chatt had two singles each in Game 2. Murphy and Matt Heffernan each had a double.

Adam Goot was the Game 1 starter and losing pitcher. Korey Canton started and lost Game 2.

The Blue Devils (0-6) are scheduled to play their first non-conference game when they play host to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
