Gotowka tosses another no-no

JAMESTOWN — In a season of excellence, Ashley Gotowka hasn’t disappointed.

The senior right-hander tossed her fifth no-hitter of the season Tuesday as Dunkirk rolled to a 14-0 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West victory over Jamestown.

“She threw very well,” Coach Michelle Gilmour said. “She was hitting her spots and the defense supported her.”

Gotowka, who struck out nine and issued a pair of walks, was the beneficiary of an eight-run first inning, which was more than enough to help the Maruaders improve to 11-4 overall and 8-3 in the division.

Summer Clark had two hits, Rachel Glowniak smacked a triple, and everyone else in the starting lineup had a base hit for Dunkirk.

The Marauders close out their regular season Thursday when they travel to Olean.

HARVEY STRIKES OUT 15

PANAMA — On Senior Night, Ashlyn Harvey threw a four-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no walks as Panama beat Frewsburg 13-4 in Division 2 West play.

The Panthers (7-4, 7-4) were celebrating two seniors — Harvey and Marra Hovey.

Offensively, Hovey had three hits, including an RBI triple, and a three-run single with two outs during a seven-run sixth inning.

Harvey added two hits, including a double, and an RBI; Mandy Brink had two hits with an RBI; and Kylie Range and Kylie Morgan each had a single.

Reagan Chitester and Peyton Yost combined for seven strikeouts in the circle for the Bears (4-7, 4-6). Cadence Rodgers had two hits while Braelyn Stelmack and Yost each had a single.

MAPLE GROVE POWERS PAST COUGARS

SINCLAIRVILLE — Taylor Bower and Tessa Reed both went 4 for 5 with a double to lead Maple Grove to a 14-5 Division 2 West victory over Cassadaga Valley.

Erin Mansfield was 3 for 6 with a triple and Sam Snow doubled for the Red Dragons (4-8, 4-7), who scored five runs in both the first and seventh innings.

Lydia Darr threw a six-hitter with three strikeouts in the circle.

Grace Warsitz went 3 for 4 with a double, Kaylee Pattyson doubled and Payton Allessi tripled for the Cougars (0-11, 0-11).

Aystyn Barrett struck out five in the circle for Cassadaga Valley.

HORNETS RALLY IN SIXTH

FORESTVILLE — Aspen VanArsdale hit a solo home run and Dakota VanArsdale hit an RBI triple during a two-run sixth inning as Forestville rallied for an 8-7 Central Division victory over Pine Valley.

The Panthers (0-10, 0-9) entered the top of the fifth inning trailing 6-3 before scoring four runs to take the lead. Danica Farnham and Mattison Cadle opened the inning with singles before Ashley Campbell’s two-run double made it 6-5. Sydney Dahl and Abby Ellis followed with RBI singles to give Pine Valley a 7-6 lead.

Then in the bottom of the sixth inning, Aspen VanArsdale hit a ball over the Panthers center fielder’s head and raced around the bases to tie the game. Madison Sliwinski followed with a single before Dakota VanArsdale’s go-ahead triple.

Alexis Alguire struck out 11, walked four and allowed nine hits for Forestville (3-8, 3-6). Dakota VanArsdale went 3 for 4.

Pine Valley pitchers combined on a seven-hitter with five strikeouts, two walks and five hit batters while Dahl was 2 for 4.

FOURTH INNING CARRIES CARDINALS

RANDOLPH — Haleigh Smith and Kyra Pence hit RBI singles, Abby Mansfield hit a two-run double and Alaina Bunker hit an RBI triple during en eight-run fourth inning as Randolph pulled away from Brocton for an 11-4 Central Division win.

Mansfield threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts and one walk in the circle for the Cardinals (6-2, 6-2).

Pence had three singles; Mansfield had three hits, including a double and a triple; and Bunker had two hits, including the triple.

Juli Smith and Christine Wdowiasz combined for three strikeouts in the circle for the Bulldogs (4-5, 3-4). Savanna Krystofiak had two hits, including a double, and Makenna Honey had two singles.

BECKERINK SHINES FOR FALCONER

FALCONER — Ashton Beckerink went 4 for 4 with four RBIs to lead Falconer to a 10-8 Division 1 West win over Olean.

Emily Melquist went 2 for 3 with a double; Nicole Youngberg had an RBI triple; and Ashley Pierce went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Every batter in the Golden Falcons (10-2, 10-2) lineup reached base and either drove in a run or scored a run.

Kayla Lynn and Beckerink combined for the win in the circle.

Jolyn Gibbons went 4 for 4 with a triple and two doubles; Kiley Anastasia went 3 for 4; and Mekenna Pancio was 2 for 3 for the Huskies (5-6, 5-5).
