Red Dragons’ McCall one-hits Chautauqua Lake
MAYVILLE — Maple Grove (4-1, 1-1) was a 12-2 winner over host Chautauqua Lake (5-4, 2-3) in five innings of play in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West action.
Kolden McCall tossed five innings of one-hit ball for the Red Dragons with eight strikeouts and no earned runs in the win.
Jake Vaillancourt went 2 for 3 with two doubles; Colin McPherson struck a double; Josh Lockwood was 2 for 4 with a triple; and Tristan Loomis was 2 for 4 to lead the Maple Grove offense.
C/S/P TWO-HITS COUGARS
SINCLAIRVILLE — Keith Gormley went 3 for 4 with three doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored as Clymer/Sherman/Panama beat Cassadaga Valley 11-1 in six innings during Division 2 West action.
Gabe Roth also doubled, drove in a run and scored a run for the Wolfpack (5-0, 5-0).
Kurtis Olson and Roth combined on a two-hitter on the mound, striking out 14 and walking five.
Nick Russo and Braden LeBaron each singled for the Cougars (2-6, 1-4). Connor Austin struck out seven in five innings on the mound.
CARDINALS WIN WILD ONE
RANDOLPH — Xander Hind hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to send Randolph to an 8-7 Division 2 East victory over Pine Valley.
Payton Slide doubled to lead off the decisive frame before Hind’s two-out drive to left field.
The Cardinals (6-2, 4-1) led 3-0 after the first inning as Isaac Hind scored on an error before Luke Pagett’s two-run single to score Xander Hind and Ashton Bushey.
Isaac Hind hit an RBI double and Bushey had an RBI single in the second as Randolph’s lead grew to 6-1.
The Panthers (2-3, 2-1) got a pair of runs back in the fourth on Sam Hunt’s two-run double to plate Donovan Guglielmi and Brendan Butcher.
Pine Valley eventually took a 7-6 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Sam Hunt walked ahead of Bryce Sercu’s two-run home run to right field. On the very next pitch, Travis West homered to center field.
West struck out seven in four innings for Pine Valley while Slade and Kyle Smallback combined for nine strikeouts on the mound for Randolph.
NORTH COLLINS WINS SHOOTOUT
CATTARAUGUS — North Collins (3-3, 2-3) was a 18-13 winner over Cattaraugus-Little Valley (0-8, 0-5) in Division 1 East play.
Tony Puckhaber was 3 for 4 with three RBIs in the win, Derek Ebersole was 2 for 4 scored with three runs and three RBIs, and Tyler Wikowski 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Ryan Harper went 2 for 5 for the hosts with four RBIs and Brayden Young was 2 for 2 with three RBIs for Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
SILVER CREEK HAMMERS 15 RUNS IN WIN
SILVER CREEK — Silver Creek (4-6, 2-2) was a 15-3 winner over visiting Brocton (1-6, 0-4) in Division 2 East play.
Cade Neubauer threw five innings in the win, fanning seven and giving up three hits.
Christian Garcia issued four walks in 1 1/3 innings for Brocton, while Aiden Gatto and Grant Gustafson also saw time on the hill for the Bulldogs.
Hunter Prinzbach had three hits in the win, including a triple and three RBIs; Neubauer added two singles and three RBIs; and Joe Villafranca and Shawn Kelly struck RBI doubles in the win.
