CSHOF legacy award winners

Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame president Randy Anderson, middle, carries on a conversation with Ryan Wills, left, and Dan Turnell at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club on Monday evening. Wills, a senior-to-be at Dunkirk High School, was the recipient of the Nelson Turnell Legacy Award, which is presented annually to the outstanding male high school tennis player in Chautauqua County. Nelson Turnell, a member of the CSHOF’s very first inductee class, was known throughout the area as a first-rate player, an excellent coach and a man who loved tennis. Dan Turnell, Nelson’s son, made the presentation to Ryan.
Dunkirk’s Phil Messina, middle, is pictured with Marauders head coach Frank Jagoda, left, and Keith Martin. Messina was the recipient of the Ken Martin Legacy Award, which is presented annually to the outstanding high school baseball player in Chautauqua County. Keith Martin, Ken Martin’s son, made the presentation to Phil.
