Fredonia competes at Wayne Invite

ONTARIO CENTER — The Fredonia boys and girls cross country teams ran in the Wayne Invitational over the weekend.

Paced by Adam Lesch’s 16th-place finish in 19 minutes, 1 second, the boys placed fifth out of 15 complete teams.

Other results from Fredonia’s boys squad were Owen Ludwig, 20th, 19:21; Ledreth Velez-Olmo, 22nd, 19:25 (a personal best); Cameron Patternosh, 33rd, 20:06; Matthew Brown, 68th, 22:28; Matthew Kehrer, 75th, 23:04; and Clayton Frazier, 79th, 23:27.

Ashlyn Ambrose was the top finisher for the girls, recording a 25th place with a time of 24:07. Freshman Haley Zadzilka was 27th in a personal-best 24:25, followed by Kira Kuhlman, 61st, 27:25; Mikaylee Baliya, 62nd, 27:38; and Joella Bauza, 70th, 30:17.

“This was a great opportunity for our teams to race against tough competition that we didn’t know about,” Fredonia coach Carol Zirkle said. “We raced at Wayne High School, which was the location of states four years ago. We had great weather and favorable racing conditions.”
