Panama takes down Westfield

PANAMA — Panama posted its first volleyball win of the season, downing Westfield, 25-8, 26-24, 25-16 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West match Tuesday.

Leading the way for the Panthers (1-2, 1-0) were Jo Bailey with nine kills, five blocks and three points, including an ace; Sarah Harvey with seven kills, five digs, 18 points and five aces; Mandy Brink with 16 assists, five digs and six points; Lilly Odell with six kills, two assists, five digs and nine points; and Corinne Hovey with 10 digs, nine points and one ace.

Haleigh Dellow paced Westfield (1-1, 0-1) with seven kills, one block, five digs and one ace; Keara Kincaid had six kills, two blocks, eight digs and one ace; and Tanleigh Bestine contributed seven assists, two blocks and six digs.

GOLDEN FALCONS PREVAIL

FALCONER — Falconer improved to 2-0 following a 25-15, 25-9, 25-16 Division West 1 win over Dunkirk.

Leading the way for the Golden Falcons were Ava Fenton with 12 assists, eight aces, three kills and 10 digs; Hannah Melquist with 10 assists, three aces and two kills; Emily Melquist with seven kills, six digs and four aces; and Dani Krenzer with seven kills and five aces.

The Marauders fell to 0-2.

SOUTHWESTERN PREVAILS

Southwestern held off Olean, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18.

Madeleine Dubois collected two aces, one block, 14 kills and 13 digs to lead the way for the Trojans. Arrington Restivo contributed two kills, 20 assists and six digs; Lauren Cotter had five aces, three blocks, six kills and five digs; and Anna Rauh had three aces, eight kills, one assist and five digs.

For Olean, Adele Dwaileebe had 11 kills and six digs; Michelle Dorney recorded five kills and two digs; and Logan Baer added 20 assists.

SPRINGVILLE WINS

Springville held off Gowanda, 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.

Gowanda’s effort was led by Jill Gernatt with two kills, eight assists and one dig; Gao Stevens had two kills, one assist, two digs and two aces; Rachel Colantino added three kills and two blocks.
