Randolph, Gowanda claim volleyball wins

RANDOLPH — Randolph secured its share of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association East Division volleyball title with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-12 victory over Ellicottville on Friday.

The Cardinals were led by Rian Finch with nine kills, two aces and one block; Payton Morrison with four kills, three aces and five blocks; Eve Adams with nine kills and seven aces; and Avery Morrison with 19 digs and five aces.

The Eagles were led by Natalee Leiper with 12 digs, one ace and one block; Tristin Bomberry with five kills and two digs; and Allison Rowland with nine digs, two kills and one block.

With the win, Randolph tied Gowanda and North Collins for first place in the East Division at 12-2. Overall, the Cardinals finished the regular season 13-5. Ellicottville dropped to 6-7 in the league and 6-9 overall.

GOWANDA TIES FOR FIRST

SOUTH DAYTON — Gowanda defeated Pine Valley, 25-23, 25-12, 25-15, in an East Division match.

Gowanda’s victory put them into a three-way tie with Randolph and North Collins for a share of the division title. Gowanda finished the league season 12-2 and sits at 12-3 overall while Pine Valley dropped to 5-9 in league and 8-10 overall.

BLACK KNIGHTS WIN

SALAMANCA — Silver Creek defeated Salamanca, 25-15, 15-25, 26-24, 26-24, in an East Division match.

Silver Creek improved to 3-12 overall and 3-9 in league while Salamanca dropped to 2-14 overall and 0-13 in league.

COUGARS WIN IN 3

WESTFIELD — Cassadaga Valley defeated Westfield, 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 in Division 2 West action.

The Cougars were led by Jordan Austin with six kills, two aces and five digs; Allison Wakelee with 16 assists and four aces; and Madilynne Hattaway with three kills and two blocks.

The Wolverines were paced by Tanleigh Bestine with four kills, 10 assists and five digs; Alysia Burgess with five digs and an ace; and Keara Kincaid with two aces, five kills and four digs.

Cassadaga Valley improved to 7-6 in league and 11-6 overall while Westfield dropped to 4-9 in league and 6-9 overall.
