T’Birds knock off Cougars

SINCLAIRVILLE — Chautauqua Lake defeated Cassadaga Valley, 25-14, 25-13, 25-16, for a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West victory on Thursday.

The Thunderbirds were led by Ava Olson with seven kills, six digs and eight assists; Lily Woodis with four kills, four blocks, two aces and three digs; Jenna Waters with nine digs, five aces and three kills; and Sydney Hawkins with five digs, five assists and two kills.

The Cougars were led by Shyann Carlstrom with eight kills and two digs; Jordan Austin with seven kills; Dana Maze with six digs; and Allison Wakelee with 17 assists and two digs.

Chautauqua Lake is now 12-0 overall and in league while Cassadaga Valley dropped to 10-6 overall and 6-6 in league.

Chautauqua Lake jayvees won.

CARDINALS BEAT EAGLES

NORTH COLLINS — Randolph handed North Collins its first loss of the year in four sets, 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-8, for a East Division victory.

Randolph was led by Rian Finch with 20 kills, four digs and two blocks; Payton Morrison with five aces, three kills and three blocks; Eve Adams with four aces, 14 kills and 14 digs; Avery Morrison with 27 digs; and Myah Abrams with two aces, three kills and 29 assists.

North Collins was led by Makenzie Jaworski with 11 kills and four blocks; and Cate Ayers finished with 20 assists.

Randolph improved to 10-5 overall and 9-2 in league while North Collins dropped to 12-1 overall and in league.

FALCONER BEATS SOUTHWESTERN

FALCONER — Falconer defeated Southwestern, 25-21, 21-25, 25-15, 25-23, for a Division 1 West victory.

Falconer was led by Ava Fenton with 27 assists, 12 digs, four aces and three kills; Emily Melquist with 22 kills, 23 digs and three aces; Dani Krenzer with 19 digs, six kills and five aces; Hannah Melquist with eight assists and nine digs; and Ashton Beckerink 14 digs and three aces.

Southwestern was led by Anna Rauh with 17 kills, 19 digs, four aces and two blocks; and Lauren Cotter with 11 kills, five digs and four blocks.

Falconer is now 10-5 overall and 7-5 in league while Southwestern dropped to 11-4 overall and 8-4 in league.

FREDONIA DEFEATS DUNKIRK

DUNKIRK — Fredonia defeated Dunkirk, 25-15, 25-19, 26-24, for a Division 1 West victory.

Fredonia improved to 2-12 overall and 2-10 in league while Dunkirk dropped to 0-14 overall and 0-12 in league.

CLYMER/SHERMAN WINS

FORESTVILLE — Clymer/Sherman defeated Forestville, 25-10, 21-25, 25-9, 25-11, for a Division 2 West win.

Clymer/Sherman was led by Mikala Einink with 17 assists and eight aces; Cora Goldberg with five kills and two aces; and Karly Honey with four kills and one ace.

Forestville was led by Makayla Press with four kills, 15 assists and eight aces; Gracie Johnson with two kills, four blocks, two aces and 10 digs; and Alena Thomas with three kills and three blocks.

Clymer/Sherman improved to 6-8 overall and 4-8 in league while Forestville dropped to 4-11 overall and 3-10 in league.

PANAMA SWEEPS BROCTON

PANAMA — Panama defeated Brocton, 25-9, 25-13, 25-16, for a Division 2 West victory.

Panama was led by Jo Bailey with 13 kills, two blocks and three aces; Sarah Harvey with six kills and five aces; Mandy Brink with 10 assists and four aces; Mackenzie Greene with 12 assists; Meadow Meredith with five aces; and Maddie Lisciandro had four digs.

Standing out for Brocton was Julia Miller with one kill, one block, two digs and two aces.

Panama is now 10-4 overall and 10-2 in league while Brocton dropped to 0-10 overall and 0-9 in league.

RED DRAGONS TOP WOLVERINES

BEMUS POINT –Maple Grove defeated Westfield in four sets, 25-19, 27-29, 25-13, 25-11, for a Division 2 West victory.

The Red Dragons were led by Rachael King with 11 kills and four digs; Madi Price with six kills and three aces; Eliza Dawes with eight kills and 11 digs; and Erin Mansfield with four kills, 28 assists and eight aces.

The Wolverines were led by Keara Kincaid with six kills, seven digs and eight aces; Haleigh Dellow with 10 kills and nine digs; Tanleigh Bestine with four kills and 12 assists; Joy Kiswani had 12 digs; and Alysia Burgess had 12 digs.

Maple Grove is now 11-3 overall and 9-3 in league while Westfield dropped to 6-8 overall and 3-8 in league.
