Hornets lose to Falconer on buzzer-beater
FORESTVILLE — Mathis Baehr hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send Falconer past Forestville 46-43 in nonleague boys basketball action Wednesday.
Baehr led the Golden Falcons (2-10) with 18 points while Gavyn Wood added 12 points.
Brayden Smith scores 20 points to lead the Hornets, who hadn’t played since a Dec. 14 loss to Falconer. Two separate quarantines and multiple cancellations left Forestville one practice day — Tuesday — to get ready for the Golden Falcons.
Garrison Hemphill grabbed nine rebounds and Sam Reuben had eight while Evan Gould picked up four steals for the Hornets (0-4).
“Our boys played with a lot of heart. We were aggressive,” Forestville head coach Tom Dempsey said. “It was good to see them get enthusiastic and get a little confidence in themselves. Moving forward, hopefully that goes with us.”
