JCC women tie for first place at January Invite

In their last swim meet at home this season, the Jamestown Community College women’s swimming & diving team tied for first in the JCC January Invitational with NCAA Division II Roberts Wesleyan College.

Kaylee Constantino (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) continues to have a strong season, placing first in the 50-yard backstroke and second in the 200-yard breaststroke. Constantino posted a time of 33.86 in the 50-yard backstroke and 2:48.25 in the 200-yard backstroke, both new personal bests.

Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) also had a first- and second-place finishes as well. Fiebiger finished first in the 50yard butterfly with a time of 29.72 and placed second in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 33.98, both personal bests.

Tia Moppert (Gowanda, NY/Gowanda HS) kept the trend going, placing first in the 100-yard butterfly with placing second in the 100-yard freestyle. Moppert finished with a time of 1:08.93 in the 100-yard butterfly and 59.47 in the 100-yard freestyle, both personal bests.

Emily Lyon (Panama, NY/Panama Central) continues to show improvement throughout the season, posting personal best in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:17.07) and 50-yard backstroke (41.54).

Jade Vidas (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Parkstown HS for Girls) improved on her time in the 50-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 31.33.

Courtney Boardman (Lakewood, NY/Frewsburg HS) improved in the 50-yard backstroke, posting a time of 42.40.

To start the meet, the team of Fiebiger, Constantino, Vidas, and Moppert placed first in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 2:06.01.

The team of Boardman, Lyon, Lindsay Finch (Russell, PA/Eisenhower HS), and Kylee Hennessy (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 1:43.22.

The Jayhawks will be back in action Wednesday, as they travel to Erie CC for their final Western New York Athletic Conference meet of the season.

MEN’S SWIMMING

In their last swim meet at home this season, the Jamestown CC men’s swimming & diving team placed third in the JCC January Invitational.

Joseph Keyser had a strong showing for the Jayhawks in his season debut, finishing with a pair of second-place finishes. Keyser posted a time of 25.35 in the 50-yard freestyle and 31.60 in the 50-yard backstroke.

Cole Carlson (Boonsboro, MD/Southwestern High) posted a new personal record in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:07.13.

Colby Pantall (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS) had a big day in the pool, posting a personal record in the 1,000-yard freestyle, shaving 27 seconds off his time to post a 12:08.15.

The team of Pantall, Carlson, Keyser, and Jackson Vanstrom (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) finished the day in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:43.22.

The Jayhawks will be back in action Wednesday as they travel to Erie CC for their final WNYAC meet of the season.

WRESTLING

JAYHAWKS SPLIT

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Traveling to the Mel Berry Duals, hosted by Thiel College, Jamestown CC split two matches, defeating Muskingum University 15-3 and falling to Thiel College 42-9.

With a match filled with double forfeits, the Jayhawks (4-4) showed out in the matches that happened.

Down 3-0 after the 125-pound match, Joey Pillittieri (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) went to work at 141 pounds, recording a 17-4 major decision victory over Tanner Donathan.

Moving on to the 157-pound class, James Rankin (Cleveland, OH/Garfield Heights) embraced the challenge. Rankin went to work early and often against Denver Kosch, getting the 15-4 major decision victory.

Skipping ahead to the 197-pound class, Brock Johnson (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) continued the trend of major-decision victory, defeating Andrew McFee15-5.

To close out the dual, heavyweight Alex Christy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia HS) grinded out a win, posting a 3-1 decision over Noah DeHainaut.

THIEL COLLEGE 42, JAMESTOWN CC 9

In the second dual of the afternoon, Pillittieri and Christy were the only Jayhawks to come away with victories.

In the 141-pound weight class, Pillittieri got Jamestown CC on the board, recording a15-8 decision over Hunter Martz.

Christy closed out the day in style, getting the fall over Seth Phillips just 50 seconds in the second period.

The Jayhawks will be back in action Saturday as they host Gannon University at 4 p.m.
