Hurricane pick up first victory
The Chautauqua Hurricane defeated the DuBois Dream 132-105 in a Premier Basketball League East Division game on Saturday in Dunkirk.
The Hurricane (1-2) trailed the Dream 22-19 after one quarter, but that would be the only quarter the Dream got the best of the Hurricane.
Chautauqua’s offense caught fire in the second and third quarters to pull away from DuBois (1-3). The Hurricane dropped 40 and 39 points in the middle quarters to get out to a 98-72 lead after three that was untouchable.
The Hurricane was led by Cameron Jackson scoring 25 points. Earl Stewart caught fire in the second half where he scored all of his 19 points, including five 3-pointers, Larry Rivers added 18 points, and both Dan Mulamba and Terrance Squire pitched in 14 points.
Demetrius Davis scored a game-high 29 points for the Dream including hitting seven 3s. Mark Smith scored 16 points, and both Jon Turk and Tony Acrie added 15 points.
The Hurricane will be back in action on Feb. 19 in DuBois.
