Cortes, Woleben honored in Central

A pair of Randolph Cardinals split the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association’s top individual boys basketball award.

Senior Gabe McCoy and freshman Drew Hind were named co-Players of the Year by the league’s coaches.

McCoy averaged 12.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while Hind averaged 15.3 points and 4.6 assists per game.

Randolph’s Kevin Hind was named the Coach of the Year after the Cardinals won the division with a perfect 10-0 mark and finished 20-2 overall.

Randolph junior Carson Conley, who averaged 11.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, and fellow junior Jaiden Huntington (10 ppg, 3.9 rpg) joined their teammates on the First Team.

Silver Creek sophomore Ray Cortes was also named to the First Team after averaging 25 points and 12.1 rebounds per game.

Frewsburg senior Zach Winters (16.4 ppg, 9.9 rpg) and Maple Grove senior Tucker Fenton (19 ppg, 9.0 rpg) rounded out the First Team.

Randolph senior Owen Nelson was named to the Second Team after averaging 2.5 points and 3.6 assists per game.

Frewsburg junior Connor Murray (14.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg) and sophomore Gavin Smith (15.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg) were also named to the Second Team with Silver Creek junior Matt Woleben (19.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg) and Portville senior Maxx Yehl (11.3 ppg, 9.5 rpg).

Cassadaga Valley was honored with the team Sportsmanship Award.
