Alexandria City holds off Dunkirk

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Scott Korzenski was solid on the mound Thursday, but the Dunkirk baseball team fell to Alexandria City, Virginia, 4-2.

Alexandria City scored a run in the first inning and two in the second — all unearned — off Korzenski, who scattered four hits, walked two and struck out two in 6 1/3 innings. Tyler Karin finished the game on the mound.

The Marauders tallied a run in the third inning after Karin walked, moved to third on two wild pitches and scored on Nick Zatorski’s sacrifice fly; and again in the fourth. Brady Corbett walked, stole second and came home on an RBI double by Alex Ahlstrom.

Ahlstrom led Dunkirk’s offensive attack with two hits, including the RBI double. Bryson Travis (double) and Corbett had the Marauders’ other two hits.

Dunkirk plays at 10 a.m. today against Camden, New York for the B Bracket championship.

Starting at $3.50/week.
