FALCONER — Fredonia (1-0-1, 1-0) erupted for 10 runs in the top of the first inning, scoring eight times with two outs, and cruised to a 25-0 five-inning victory over Falconer (0-1, 0-1) in the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 opener for each team.

Winning pitcher Owen Ludwig struck out eight while only allowing one hit, a leadoff single by Dalton Caldwell, who was erased on an inning-ending double play. Simon Davis (double, two RBIs and four runs scored) and Micah Davis (double, three RBIs and a run scored) each had two hits. As a team, Fredonia had 17 hits.

ROTH NO-HITS COUGARS

SHERMAN — Gabe Roth didn’t pitch in Tuesday’s nonleague game against Southwestern so Clymer/Sherman/Panama would have the junior right-hander available for Wednesday’s Division 2 West opener against Cassadaga Valley.

Wolfpack head coach Jake Marino’s move paid off.

Fenton, a St. Bonaventure commit, struck out 13, walked five and hit two batters before being lifted in favor of Kolden McCall to start the sixth inning. The Bulldogs’ Ryan Laurito greeted McCall with a double to break up the no-hit bid.

“Tucker threw the ball well,” Yohe said. “With our limited time being able to get outside, they played very well tonight.”

Fenton hit an RBI single in the first inning to score Jackson Gowan as Maple Grove (1-0, 1-0) took a 1-0 lead.

In a two-run third, Kynan Egan hit an RBI double to score Fenton. The Red Dragons went up 4-0 in the fifth inning before a four-run seventh inning. McCall had the big hit with a two-run double in the seventh.
