Warriors down Bulldogs
BROCTON — Salamanca scored five runs in both the third and sixth innings en route to a 15-5 nonleague softball victory over Brocton on Monday.
In the first inning, the Warriors’ Rylee Grant hit an RBI single.
The Bulldogs (0-1) scored five runs in their half of the second inning as Joie Wisecarver, Lorin Rizzo, Angeline Rexford and Haleigh Furman all drove in runs.
The Warriors (1-0) took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. Emma Brown and Grant drew bases-loaded walks before Morgan Maybee hit a bases-clearing double.
Brown, Grant and Kierstyn Klahn then had big hits in Salamanca’s five-run sixth inning.
Brown earned the victory in the circle, surrendering five runs on eight hits while striking out 10.
Rexford went 4 for 4 at the plate and Hailey Carlson had two hits for Brocton. Madison Sears took the loss, striking out eight in the circle.
