Fredonia tennis wins rivalry game

After first singles, Fredonia won four straight matches en route to a 4-1 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association West Division victory over Dunkirk on Friday.

Jackson Spangler and Tim Brandon won singles matches for the Hillbillies (6-1, 6-1). Ryan Davis teamed up with Grayson Osborne-Coy and Ezra Daly-Griffin teamed up with Jack Pietro for doubles victories.

Ryan Wills won at first singles for the Marauders (1-5, 1-5).

WOLVERINES EDGE DUNKIRK

Collin Hoffman and Rachel Eggleston posted a three-set victory at second doubles as Westfield defeated Dunkirk 3-2 in a West Division match Thursday.

Hoffman and Eggleston lost the first set 1-6, but rallied to win the last two 6-4, 6-1.

The Wolverines are now 5-3 overall and 5-2 in the division, while the Marauders drop to 1-4 and 1-4.

LEFLERS LEAD WAY

WEST ELLICOTT — Behind a marathon win at first doubles by Nolan Lefler and Matthew Lefler, Southwestern edged Olean 3-2 in the East Division.

The Leflers downed Alex Linderman and Maxwell Bee 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 as the Trojans improved to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in the division.

The Huskies, who suffered their first loss of the season, are 7-1 and 6-1.
