Olean claims Division 1 3-man

CHAUTAUQUA — Kamdyn McClain shot a 78 to earn medalist honors at the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 Tournament at Chautauqua Golf Club on Friday.

McClain’s effort, along with teammates Talan Stitt (84) and Elliott Wilber (89), earned the Huskies the team title with a 251, three shots better than second-place Southwestern. The Trojans were led by Griffin Bogdanowicz with a 79, followed by Zach Rhodes with an 85 and Evan Bishop with a 90.

Maple Grove finished third with a 259. Evan Steffen led the way for the Red Dragons with an 82, Cam Crist had an 86 and Gavin Rodgers shot a 91. Jamestown finished fourth with a 260, highlighted by a pair of 86s by Evan Maloney and Tayler Salvaggio. Tyler Maloney recorded an 88.

Fredonia placed fifth at 269, led by Grant Abbey’s 85. Ryan Kelly shot an 86 and Sam Kawski recorded a 98. Five shots back was Falconer with a 274. Curtis Hannon shot an 87, Cole Barber a 93 and Tage Pierce a 94. Dunkirk finished with a 321, led by Robert Kozlowski’s 81. Brayden Keppel had a 106 and Michael Sutherland had a 134.

The CCAA first-team all-stars and their averages for the season are Darien Swanson, 39.6; Kamdyn McClain, 40.0; Evan Steffen, 40.0; Cam Crist, 40.7; Robert Kozlowski, 41.2; and Ryan Kelly, 41.4. The second-team all-stars are Griffin Bogdanowicz, 41.8; Lucas Hoffman, 42.0; Carson Swanson, 42.2.; Curtis Hannon, 42.5; Evan Maloney, 42.7; and Tyler Salvaggio, 43.6.

Olean was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award. Ace Pierce of Cassadaga Valley was the individual recipient.

Following are the team records: Fredonia, 14-2; Southwestern, 13-3; Maple Grove, 10-5; Olean, 10-6; Falconer, 9-7; Jamestown, 8-8; Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman/Panama 4-11; Cassadaga Valley, 2-14; and Dunkirk, 0-15.
