EAST AMHERST — The Lake Shore/Silver Creek boys lacrosse team scored eight unanswered goals against Palmyra-Macedon to win the Class C Far West Regional 10-4 on Saturday at Williamsville East High School.

The Section V champion, Palmyra-Macedon, netted a goal with 10.2 seconds left in the first half to go up 4-2. If the Eagles wanted to advance to the state final four, they would need to turn it up in the second half.

That’s exactly what happened, as Jaden Kennedy scored his second goal of the game 1:10 into the third quarter and brought the Eagles within one at 4-3. Then the goals kept coming, Ray Cortes wasted no time as he followed up Kennedy with a goal just 47 seconds later.

Lake Shore/Silver Creek didn’t stop there, as Korbin Bonafede and Joiise John scored to give it a 6-4 lead. Palmyra-Macedon called a timeout, but it could not change the momentum shift as Kennedy scored a third before the end of the third quarter.

Palmyra-Macedon trailed 7-4 entering the fourth quarter, making it now or never. Cortes decided it was the latter as he scored three consecutive goals to close out the fourth quarter 10-4 in favor of Lake Shore/Silver Creek.

On Wednesday, Lake Shore/Silver Creek will travel to the NYSPHSAA boys lacrosse West Semifinals at SUNY Cortland to play Section III’s Westhill.
