The Jim Riggs Memorial Champions is scheduled for July 3 on the Lake Course at Chautauqua Golf Club.

The stroke-play golf tournament will include the 2021 men’s scratch club champions from all of the regulation 18- and nine-hole courses in the circulation areas of The Post-Journal, the OBSERVER and the Times Observer. Past champions are also invited to play. Tee times will run from 10:20-11 a.m.

The Riggs Memorial Champions, now in its 32nd year, was the brainchild of the late Jim Riggs, the sports editor at The Post-Journal from 1979-2014.

“There’s nothing like it in the three-county area right now,” said tournament director Nolan Swanson, co-owner of Pinehurst Golf Club in Westfield. “This is the only individual golf tournament without handicap around. It’s fun. It’s great competition and a fantastic time.”
