Fredonia, Westfield/Brocton post wins

CHEEKTOWAGA — No. 10 Fredonia downed No. 7 Cleveland Hill 22-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-18 in a Section VI Class C1 prequarterfinal on Tuesday.

Maddie Saunders paced the Hillbillies with seven kills, one ace, six digs and one block; Kaylen Rollins contributed four kills, six aces and one block; Rihanna Benner collected eight aces and 11 assists; Katherine Fortna had five aces and five assists; and Lydia LaBarr recorded three kills, five aces and four digs.

Fredonia will play at No. 2 Akron in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

CLYMER/SHERMAN ADVANCES

CLYMER — Clymer/Sherman, the No. 6 seed, swept No. 11 Pine Valley 25-11, 25-9, 25-19 in a Class D prequarterfinal.

Janelle Burchanowski turned in a fine match for the winners, collecting five aces, 28 assists and nine digs for the winners.

Hayden Fisher had one ace, nine kills and six digs; Cora Goldberg chipped in two aces, 11 kills, three assists and one block; and Natalie Johnson contributed four aces, four kills and 10 digs.

For Pine Valley, Kaitlin Hayes had 12 digs, one ace and two assists; Vivien Libby recorded four blocks; Jessina Miller added two blocks, three kills and one ace; and Danica Farnham had one block, two aces, four digs, two assists and two kills.

Clymer/Sherman will travel to No. 3 Gowanda on Thursday.

PANAMA DOWNS HORNETS

PANAMA — Fourth-seeded Panama held off No. 13 Forestville 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 in a Class D prequarterfinal volleyball match on Tuesday.

Sarah Harvey led the way with 10 kills, one block, six digs and one ace, helping the Panthers improve to 15-3 on the season.

Jo Bailey added seven kills, one block and one ace; Mandy Brink collected four kills, 21 assists and eight digs; Corinne Hovey had five digs and seven aces; and Kylie Range chipped in three digs and nine aces.

For Forestville, Kaitie Lomonto had two kills, two assists, two blocks and an ace; Megan Gruber recorded four blocks and an ace; Gracie Johnson delivered two kills, an assist and four blocks; and Dakota VanArsdale contributed two digs and three aces.

Panama will entertain North Collins, a winner over Cassadaga Valley, in the quarterfinals Thursday.

BLACK KNIGHTS WIN

SILVER CREEK — No. 10 Silver Creek advanced in the Class C2 playoffs following a 25-19, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18 victory over No. 10 Salamanca in a prequarterfinal match.

Gianna Grabias led the way with 11 kills, 27 assists, three digs and eight aces; Tory Cook recorded nine kills and seven aces; and Ryleigh Lawton added three kills, four assists and five digs for the Black Knights (6-15).

Marijah Skye led Salamanca (6-15) with seven kills and three aces; Lezly McComber added six kills, three aces and three kills; and Brianna Benjamin contributed six kills.

NORTH COLLINS PREVAILS

NORTH COLLINS — Fifth-seeded North Collins upended Cassadaga Valley in Class D prequarterfinal 25-20, 25-16, 25-21.

Mackenzie Jaworski recorded 20 kills and Catherine Ayers added 25 assists for the winners (13-5).

OTHER SCORES

No. 9 Maple Grove downed No. 8 Holland 25-10, 25-10, 25-10; and No. 10 Westfield swept No. 7 Ellicottville 25-13, 25-22, 29-29 in Class D prequarterfinal action.
