Jamestown volleyball sweeps Fredonia
JAMESTOWN — Behind a strong effort by Kylie O’Brien, Jamestown upended Fredonia 25-10, 29-27, 25-10 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West volleyball match Tuesday.
O’Brien collected 15 digs, seven aces and seven kills to help the Red Raiders improve to 3-7 overall and 3-6 in the division.
Aubrey Reynolds added nine digs, 10 aces and two kills; and Rylan Coombs chipped in seven digs for Jamestown.
Lydia LaBarr led the Hillbillies with 16 digs; Elizabeth Morris added three kills, three aces and eight digs; and Miriam LaBarr chipped in three kills.
CLYMER/SHERMAN PREVAILS
SINCLAIRVILLE — Janelle Burchanowski had 22 assists, seven kills, seven aces, six digs and four blocks to lead Clymer/Sherman past Cassadaga Valley 24-26, 25-19, 25-13, 26-24 in Division 2 West action.
Cora Goldberg had nine kills and five aces; Alexys Neckers had six kills, six digs, six blocks and four aces; and Hayden Fisher had six aces, four kills and three blocks for the Wolves (9-3, 6-3).
The Cougars fell to 5-8 overall and 2-7 in the league.
TROJANS OUTLAST FALCONER
FALCONER — Southwestern needed five sets to get by Falconer 25-23, 25-18, 24-26, 21-25, 15-9 in Division 1 West play.
The Trojans improved to 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the league.
Dani Krenzer led the Golden Falcons (5-6, 4-5) with 31 digs, 13 kills, two aces and two blocks; Hannah Melquist had 23 assists, 10 digs, seven kills and four aces; Nylah Sharpe had 33 digs and two aces; and Emily Zaranek had six kills and four digs.
DELLOW POWERS WESTFIELD
FORESTVILLE — Haleigh Dellow had 16 kills, an ace and two digs to lead Westfield past Forestville 19-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-12 in Division 2 West action.
Tanleigh Bestine had four kills, eight aces and four digs; Sydney Hotchkiss had a kill and six aces; and Madison Jaynes had a kill and four aces for the Wolverines (6-4, 5-4).
Gracie Johnson had four kills, three assists, five blocks, two aces and six digs; Kaitie Lomanto had a kill, six assists, a block and two digs; Megan Gruber had two kills, two assists and two blocks; and Mary Dunn had an assist and six digs for the Hornets (2-8, 1-7).
Westfield won the JV match.
PORTVILLE STAYS UNBEATEN
PORTVILLE — Ava Haynes had 11 kills, Lillian Bentley had seven and Tori Unverdorben had six as Portville swept Dunkirk 25-2, 25-10, 25-6 in Division 1 West action.
Jill Stebbins had 18 assists and nine aces for the Panthers (10-0, 9-0).
The Marauders fell to 0-11 overall and 0-8 in the league.
