CCAA Central names awards

Winning the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division title with a perfect 10-0-0 record has garnered accolades for the Maple Grove boys soccer team.
First-year head coach Eric Daigler was recently named the league’s Coach of the Year after guiding the Red Dragons to a 12-3-1 overall record and a spot in the Section VI Class D championship game. Maple Grove outscored opponents 70-19.
Red Dragons senior forward Eli Moore was named the Central Division’s Player of the Year after scoring 30 goals and adding 10 assists.
Moore was joined on the league’s First Team by three teammates. Junior midfielder Jonah Foley had 17 goals and eight assists, junior goalkeeper Nathan Cresanti was a key part of the team allowing just 19 goals, and junior midfielder Gavin Rodgers had a goal and an assist.
Second-place Westfield/Brocton had a 6-4-0 league record and 10-8-0 overall record. The Wolverines also had three players on the First Team. Sophomore forward Carson Swanson had 22 goals and six assists, junior midfielder Aiden Gatto had five goals and six assists, and senior defenseman Jordin Lopez had an assist while helping Westfield/Brocton to the Section VI Class C semifinals.

Chautauqua Lake, which finished in a third-place tie with Frewsburg at 5-4-1 in the league, placed two players on the First Team while also being named the league’s Team Sportsmanship Award winner. Senior forward Elias Quintero scored 10 goals and added three assists while also being named the league’s Individual Sportsmanship Award winner. Senior midfielder Ethan Testa joined Quintero on the First Team after scoring four goals and adding nine assists.
Frewsburg placed two players on the First Team. Senior midfielder Zack Carr had a team-high 21 goals to go along with nine assists while senior Connor Murray started the season as the Bears’ goalkeeper before moving out to the field. He finished with seven goals and 11 assists.
Silver Creek/Forestville also had two players on the First Team. Senior forward Alex Procknal had 11 goals and one assist while senior defender Wyatt Golembieski had a goal and two assists.
North Collins junior forward Derek Ebersole completed the First Team with 12 goals and five assists for the Eagles.
The league named Rosario Parisi as the Referee of the Year.
