JAMESTOWN — Looking to continue their success in the pool, the Jamestown Community College swimming & diving team will be looking for more championships to carry on the winning tradition over the past two years.

“Last year is behind us and despite its successes, we are physically and mentally in a new year and ready to look forward,” said third-year head coach Todd Conklin. “These athletes now know me, and I surely recognize what they’re capable of. Together, we will maintain a championship environment fostered by driven work ethic and undying hard work. We will continue to earn our successes through positive attitudes and rewarding outcomes.”

On the women’s side, the Jayhawks will return four swimmers in Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS), Kylee Hennessy (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS), Emily Lyon (Panama/Panama Central), and Jade Vidas (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Parktown HS for Girls) that were apart of the 2022-23 Non-Scholarship National Championship team.

“The veterans know not only me, but what they want for themselves and for the team,” Conklin said. “I believe this will permeate into their natural leadership with the newcomers. Having their experience around big meets and being on the large-scale stage bridges the gap with taking pressure off the newcomers.”

Joining the team this year are transfers Isabel Bailey (Sinclairville/Panama, Central) and Madison Kramer (Falconer/Falconer HS) to go along with freshmen Stacey Blacker (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, Edenvale HS) and Hannah Eckert (Frewsburg/Frewsburg HS).

“As for the rookies, we have impeccable talent coming in from these athletes,” said Conklin. “Madison (Krammer) is from nearby Frewsburg where she has set many school records and competed at states. Hannah (Eckert) is another newcomer that is consistent and has an outstanding drive. Stacey (Blacker), coming to us from South Africa, has been tirelessly training and we can’t wait to see what she is capable of.”

On the men’s side, JCC will return one swimmer in Cole Carlson (Boonboro, MD/Southwestern High) and Joseph Keyser (Mayville/Chautauqua Lake Central).

“I can’t wait to see what our two men’s swimmers will do this season,” Conklin said. “They made great progress a season ago and can’t wait to see them grow even more this year.”

The Jayhawks will begin the season today at the Monroe Community College Invitational before hosting the WNYAC Meet on Wednesday, Nov. 16. After that, JCC will travel to the Herkimer College Invitational on Dec. 3 and end the fall portion of the season on Dec. 14 at the WNYAC Meet hosted by Genesee Community College.

To start the spring semester, the Jayhawks will host the Jamestown Community College Invitational on Jan. 14 before wrapping up the regular season on Jan. 18 at the WNYAC Meet hosted by Erie Community College.

From there, JCC will compete in the NJCAA Region 3 Championships from Feb. 10-12 at Monroe Community College. To close out the year, the Jayhawks will compete in the 2022-23 NJCAA Swimming & Diving National Championships hosted by Erie Community College from March 1-4.
