OLEAN — Adam Fred did it again.
Representing the Dunkirk/Forestville/Fredonia swim team, Fred broke two more Dunkirk swimming records Tuesday night — the 50- and 100-yard freestyles in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association meet at Olean Middle School.
Fred’s time in the 50 freestyle was 22.43, breaking the old mark set in 1992. His time in the 100 freestyle — 50.03 — snapped the oldest remaining record, which was set in 1979. In addition, he was the lead leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay, which just missed breaking the record set in 2000 by 2.2 seconds. All three swims were first-place finishes.
Other significant swims for Dunkirk/Forestville/Fredonia were first-place finishes by Trenton Krenzer in the 200 individual medley (2:19.18) and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.19), which was also a Section VI qualifying time; and a first place for Matthew Dunn in the 100 butterfly (1:01.20), and a second place behind Fred in the 50 freestyle (24.47).
The Marauders will be back in action when they host Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove at FHS pool, a reschedule of last week’s meet. Friday they’ll travel to a tri-meet with Sweet Home and Lancaster.
