Jayhawks cruise past Penn State Behrend
ERIE, Pa. — Competing in its first dual of the season Wednesday, the Jamestown Community College wrestling Penn State Behrend 37-18.
The Jayhawks (1-0) started out hot, winning the first three matches. De’Aonte Hutchinson (Baltimore/Edgewood High School) recorded the first win, posting an 8-5 decision against Zach Dellinger. Brendon Ramsey (Panama/Panama Central) kept the momentum going in the 133-pound class, pinning Jose Ortiz in 1:18 to put Jamestown CC up 9-0. Luke Potts (Pittsburgh /West Allegheny) improved the Jayhawks’s lead to 15-0 after getting the medical forfeit win over Mitch Headley.
After dropping the 149-pound class, the Jayhawks got six points back with Fareed Muhammad (Cleveland/Garfield Heights) claimed a forfeit win to make it 21-6. The Lions responded with a win in the 165-pound class with Zachary Edwards getting the fall over Jameson Trusler (Jamestown/Jamestown) in 1:37 to make it 21-12.
The Jayhawks got back in their groove, winning the next three matches. Mohammed Mustafa Salimi (Kabal, Afghanistan/Ghazi) continued his strong start to the season, getting the fall over Matt Posego in 2:08 to make it 27-12. Alex Christy (Fredonia/Fredonia) had his way with Daniel Labus, posting an 11-0 major decision. Brock Johnson (Falconer/Falconer) capped off the run, pinning Russell Wismer in 1:25 to make it 37-12.

The Jayhawks will be back in action Saturday as they travel to the Thunderwolves Open hosted by Niagara County CC.
