BUFFALO -- Several local student-athletes turned in top five finishes at this weekend's Section VI Inter-Divisional meets at the Buffalo State College Sports Arena.
Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg/Randolph's Roan Kelly and Jamestown's Jarren Cotter had the lone individual-first place finishes for the boys. Kelly captured the 3,200-meters in the C-D Inter-Divisional on Saturday with a time of 10:07.00 while Cotter claimed the 300 meters with a time of 38.60 seconds.
A pair of girls took first-place finishes in the C-D Inter-Divisional.
Jamestown's Madison Burgess won the 300 meters with a time of 44.28 seconds while F/MG/CV/F/R's Corinne Inkley won the long jump with a distance of 14 feet, 8.25 inches.
Three F/MG/CV/F/R relays took first place. The boys 800-meter relay won with a time of 1:40.31 while Jamestown was third at 1:41.68. F/MG/CV/F/R's boys 1,600-meter relay also took first in the 3:47.29. The F/MG/CV/F/R girls 800-meter relay was first in 1:58.70 while Jamestown was fourth in 2:02.22.
Fredonia's Jayden Yerico was second in the boys 300 meters during the A-B Inter-Divisional on Friday with a time of 39.81 seconds.
F/MG/CV/F/R's Collin Riel was second in the 300 meters Saturday with a time of 38.73 seconds while his teammate, Talon Rowland, was third in 38.87.
Burgess was second in the girls 55 meters (7.81 seconds) and F/MG/CV/F/R's Paiden Wittmeyer was second in the 55-meter hurdles (10.35).
F/MG/CV/F/R's Cody Kent was third in the boys 1,600 meters (4:57.84), teammate Zayne Cline was third in the boys 55-meter hurdles (8.88), Rowland was third in the boys high jump (5 feet, 4 inches), F/MG/CV/F/R's Hannah Madonia was third in the girls 300 meters (47.51) and Jamestown's Emily Cardinale was third in the girls long jump (14 feet, 5.25 inches).
The F/MG/CV/F/R boys 3,200-meter relay was also third in 9:46.15.
Fredonia's Abby Roth was fourth in the girls 55-meter hurdles Friday in 10.01 seconds and Dunkirk's boys 1,600-meter relay was also fourth in 4:09.21.
On Saturday, F/MG/CV/F/R's Juvenal Diaz was fourth in the 600 meters (1:36.23).
Fifth-place finishes were turned in by: Jamestown's Noah Burch in the boys 600 meters Saturday (1:37.25), F/MG/CV/F/R's Gavin Stearns in the boys high jump Saturday (5-4), Fredonia's Lenieth Velez-Olmo in the boys 55-meter hurdles Friday (9.69), and Fredonia's Gigi Ferro and Mariella Russo, who tied in the girls high jump Friday at 4 feet, 8 inches.
