Dunkirk/Silver Creek relay runs 3:30.97 at indoor championships

STATEN ISLAND — Frewsburg junior Landon Stormer turned in the most impressive performance among local athletes at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Stormer, running for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg/Randolph, finished third in the 300-meter dash with a time of 34.70 seconds. Stormer qualified for the final with an identical 34.70-second sprint in the prelims, while junior teammate Talon Rowland ran a 35.47 in the prelims, which was good for 14th. Fordham Prep junior won the event with a time of 34.14 seconds.

Randolph junior Roan Kelly, also running for F/CV/F/R, placed seventh in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:18.04. Sanford junior Logan Schaeffler won the event with a time of 4:13.51.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg/Randolph’s 800-meter relay team of senior Jacob Constantino, senior Collin Riel, Rowland and Stormer finished eighth in 1:37.17. The winning team was Iona Prep with a time of 1:29.48. Kelly was part of the team in the prelims as they turned in a clocking of 1:30.81 to qualify for the final.

Salamanca junior Arlen Newark finished 12th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:23.81. Bishop Loughlin senior Wesley Noble won in 1:18.35.

Senior Corinne Inkley placed 13th in the girls pole vault at a height of 10 feet, 6 inches. Pine Bush junior Ella Galloway won at 12 feet, 6 inches.

Senior Clayton Crouse placed 17th in the pole vault at a height of 12 feet. Taconic Hill junior Neil Howard won at 15 feet, 9 inches.

Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s 1,600-meter relay team of seniors Jordan Lockett and Alex Procknal, junior Lucas Lawrie and sophomore Johnee Thomas ran the 16th-fastest time in the prelims with a 3:30.97 and did not advance to the final. Bishop Loughlin ended up winning with a time of 3:18.54.
