Dunkirk relay among winners in Falconer

FALCONER — Dunkirk’s boys only finished fourth in Division 1 at this weekend’s Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Track & Field Championships at Bill Race Field, but the Marauders turned in a pair of performances to remember.
Junior Michael Hanlon won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.97 seconds while he also teamed up with Jordan Lockett, Lucas Lawrie and Johnee Thomas to win the 1,600-meter relay in 3:30.34 as Dunkirk totaled 75 points overall.
Other ribbon-worthy (top-8) finishes for the Marauders included: Lockett (third, 200 meters), Thomas (fourth, 400 meters), Lawrie (eighth, 800 meters), senior Quanyay Thomas (second, triple jump; fifth, long jump) and sophomore Jaylen McMichael (seventh, triple jump).
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s boys took third in Division 3 with 101 points. Freshman Nick Jacobson won the high jump and senior David Speagle won the long jump.
Other top-eight finishes for the Thunderbirds included their 400-meter relay team, which took second, their 3,200-meter relay team, which took sixth, senior Elias Quintero (second, 800 meters), Speagle (fourth, 100 meters), senior Cole Otto (third, long jump; sixth, 100 meters; sixth, 200 meters), eighth-grader Walter Lukasiak (third, discus) and sophomore Mason Maring (eighth, discus).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s girls took fifth in Division 3 with 75 points, led by sophomore Jada Cole’s victory in the high jump.
The Thunderbirds’ 400-meter and 3,200-meter relays both took sixth and their 1,600-meter relay took eighth. Other place finishers included: freshman Lily Otto (eighth, 100 meters) and senior Dakota Rammelt (fourth, 100-meter hurdles).
Fredonia’s girls were fifth in Division 1 with 48 points, led by senior Gigi Ferro (seventh, 100 meters; third, high jump), sophomore Delaney Kaiser (fifth, 400 meters), senior Abby Roth (third, 100-meter hurdles) and sophomore Madeline Saunders (tied for sixth, high jump).
Fredonia’s boys were fifth in Division 1 with 36 points, led by senior Carlos Gonzalez (third, 100 meters; eighth, 200 meters), senior Jayden Yerico (third, 400 meters; fourth, 200 meters) and junior Lenieth Velez-Olmo (fifth, 110-meter hurdles). The Hillbillies were also sixth in the 400-meter relay.
Dunkirk’s girls were sixth in Division 1 with 18 points. Senior Siera Jacques was seventh in the 400 meters and senior Julia Frazita was sixth in the pole vault.

Silver Creek/Forestville’s girls were fourth in Division 3 with 76 points and the Black Knights boys were sixth with 25 points.
For the girls, senior Jo Hansen was fifth in the long jump; seventh-grader Leah Mays was sixth in the 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters; senior Grace Mullen was sixth in the shot put; eighth-grader Molly Shaw was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles; and freshman Chymerah Genovese was eighth in the 400 meters.
For the boys, senior Alex Procknal was seventh in the 400 meters and the Black Knights were sixth in the 1,600-meter relay.
Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s boys and girls both took third in Division 1. Sophomore Hannah Madonia won the 400-meter hurdles.
The Golden Cougars girls, who finished with 112 points, were led by: senior Paiden Wittmeyer (fifth, 100 meters; fourth, long jump; and fourth, discus), senior Ella Ekstrom (eighth, 200 meters; sixth, long jump; second, triple jump), junior Autumn Lynn (third, shot put; seventh, discus), senior Danielle Krenzer (fourth, 1,500 meters), junior Marcella Seekings (fourth, 400-meter hurdles) and freshman Mary Lundmark (fourth, pole vault). The Golden Cougars also took second in the 400-meter relay.

The Golden Cougars boys, who finished with 108 points, were led by: sophomore Mathis Baehr (third, 400-meter hurdles), sophomore Nathan Bailey (sixth, high jump; fourth, pole vault), senior Riley Houghwot (fourth, high jump; sixth, triple jump) and senior Jase Smith (second, long jump; third, triple jump). The Golden Cougars also took third in the 3,200-meter relay and seventh in the 400-meter relay.
