Fredonia’s Kelly, Southwestern’s Bogdanowicz qualify for states

OLEAN — A pair of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association golfers are among nine heading to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships after Monday’s Section VI state qualifier at Bartlett Country Club.
Fredonia’s Ryan Kelly tied for fourth with a 27-hole total of 120.
Southwestern’s Griffin Bogdanowicz finished in seventh overall, one shot back of Kelly and 121.
Dunkirk’s Robert Kozlowski earned first-alternate status with a 122 after beating Lucas Hoffman of Fredonia on the third playoff hole. The two were in a four-way playoff to determine the final two qualifying spots and the first alternate. Hoffman was third overall with an 80 after the first 18 holes before falling into the playoff after a 42 on the additional nine holes.
Lewiston-Porter’s Rocco Randazzo earned medalist honors with a 117 after a tie-breaker with Iroquois’ Adan Cichowski. Frontier’s Alex Schickling was third with a 119. Williamsville East’s Tyler Delisanti, Medina’s Aidan Paul and Kelly all tied for fourth with 120s. Following Bogdanowicz in eighth was Clarence’s David Brooks (122) and Orchard Park’s Enzo Clerici (122).
The 18-hole cut was 85 before the top 20 played an extra nine holes to decide the state representatives.
Other CCAA golfers included: Maple Grove’s Evan Steffan (88), Olean’s Talan Stitt (83-134), Salamanca’s Ashton Clark-Sanford (95), Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman/Panama’s Carson Swanson (86), Allegany-Limestone’s Ryan Lechner (86), Randolph’s Carter Davis (89), Randolph’s Cody Slade (108), Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Owen Wright (100), Randolph’s Jaxon Morrison (83-130), Randolph’s Owen Nelson (94), Falconer’s Curtis Hannon (88), Ellicottville’s Gian Nuzzo (109) and Jamestown’s Evan Maloney (90).
The Erie County Interscholastic Conference, represented by Orchard Park, took first place in the team championship with a 340.
The Niagara Frontier League, represented by Lewiston-Porter, took second with a 366.
The CCAA, represented by Southwestern, took third with a 370. Griffin Bogdanowicz led the Trojans with an 82 followed by Brady Lindstrom (92), Seth Vaughn (97) and Zach Rhodes (99).
Akron of the Niagara-Orleans League was fourth with a 386.
The state championships will take place in the first week of June at the Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira.
