JAMESTOWN — Bryan Aduddle did what all pitchers hope to do when they take the mound.

He did his best to befuddle.

And when he left Wednesday night’s Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, it was mission accomplished.

The 6-foot right-hander from Canisius College allowed just two hits, struck out six and worked around five walks to lead Niagara to a 2-0 victory over Jamestown at Diethrick Park.

The win improved the Power’s record to 5-2-1 and into a first-place tie with the Tarp Skunks (5-2-1) in the West Division.

Niagara, which managed seven hits against four Jamestown pitchers, scored an unearned run in the second inning off losing pitcher Kasey Gilman (0-1) and one in the fifth on an RBI single by Vincent Mauro. That was all the Power needed, although they certainly had plenty of chances to add more, but left 13 runners on base.

The Tarp Skunks, who had just one runner reach second base the entire night, managed an infield single by leadoff hitter Paul Catalano in the bottom of the first inning and an infield single by Matt Thompson in the fifth.

That was it.

When Aduddle, who attended Williamsville North High School, departed in the eighth, Andrew Bench came on to work the final 1 2/3 innings for the save.

Jamestown, which committed three errors and issued eight walks, kept the game close with several sparkling plays, including throwing out a runner at the plate at , picking a second runner off first base and throwing out a third runner attempting to steal.

But that went all for naught as the Tarp Skunks posed little offensive threat.

Jamestown will continue its homestand at 6:30 tonight when it entertains Batavia. The Tarp Skunks will be at home again Friday when they take on Elmira, also at 6:30 p.m.
