Calph’s 77 paces Wed. Travel League

RANDOLPH — Robert Calph shot a 77 at Cardinal Hills Golf Course to win the Wednesday Travel League.

Bob North finished second with 82 and Ed Tofil was third with 83. Tofil led the front nine with 39 and Calph led the back nine with an even-par 36. Pete Pinkoski and Lenny Leszkowicz won the B and C Flights, respectively. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Bob Kujawa.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Jeff Nelson (Nos. 2, 6); Tofil (Nos. 4, 14); Gary Haase (No. 8); North (No. 9), and Calph (No. 10); B Flight — Mike Willoughby (No. 1), Ken Kaus (Nos. 5, 6, 8), Tom Sacilowski (No. 7), Christopher Michalski (No. 10), John Waterman (No. 11) and Pinkoski (Nos. 13, 16); and C Flight — Dave Franklin (Nos. 2, 15), Joe Bifaro (Nos. 4, 6), Mike Dornan (No. 7) and Leszkowicz(No.13).

Closest to the pin were Tofil (Nos. 4, 9), North (No. 11) and Pat Weaver (No. 18). Winners of the Steeplechase were Calph (A Flight), Jeff Marsowicz (B) and Leszkowicz (C).

Top point winners were Tofil (70), North (45), and Calph, Nelson, Kaus and Leszkowicz (20 apiece). Season points leaders are 1. Mike Wolfe (205), 2. Franklin (203), 3. Calph (200), 4. Tofil (190), 5. Dave Wallace (183), 6. Josh Hilliker (178), 7. Sacilowski (148), 8. Haase (137), 9. Kaus (129) and 10. Pete Gawron (119).

Ed Tofil became the second golfer to reach 5,500 career points.
