Fredonia defeats Falconer 12-5 in 8-10 all-stars District 38 championship

MAYVILLE — Fredonia wore its hitting shoes to Pearl Gravit Memorial Field on Tuesday evening.
And the village’s 8-10 year-old all-stars walked away as District 38 champions.
Eight of Fredonia’s 10 players had at least one hit as the team totaled 14 in the first three innings en route to a 12-5 victory over Falconer.
Leadoff batter Alex Williams led Fredonia, reaching base four times on three hits including a triple, while also throwing the first 3 1/3 innings of the win. Max Luce, Tucker Shoup, Greyson Whitfield and Theo Conroy each added a pair of hits in the victory.
Fredonia jumped on top early with a three-run bottom of the first inning. Williams led off with a triple and scored on a wild pitch before Luce singled and Shoup drove him in with an RBI double.

Shoup ended up at third on the play and scored on an RBI single by Whitfield.
Fredonia broke the game open with a five-run second inning. Conroy doubled with two outs and Bruno Muscarella followed with a single before Williams hit an RBI single. A passed ball scored Muscarella and Williams scored on a wild pitch before Shoup hit another RBI double. After a wild pitch, Whitfield hit another RBI single.
Falconer got on the board in the top of the third. Chase Parmentier singled, went to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a passed ball before scoring on an error. With two outs, Lucas Arrance walked and Trenton Smith singled before both runners moved up on a wild pitch. A walk to Huxley Hale loaded the bases before Jonah Johnson hit an RBI single. Smith attempted to score on the play, but was thrown out at the plate.
Fredonia added on three more runs in the bottom of the frame. Brennan Hodkin and Christian Sells singled to open the inning before Conroy hit a two-run single. After a groundout and a single by Williams, Conroy scored on a wild pitch.
Falconer made it 11-5 in the top of the fourth. Owen Carlberg and Jayce Stewart walked to open the inning before an error loaded the bases. Andrew Youngberg then hit into an RBI fielder’s choice to score Carlberg and Stewart scored on a wild pitch before Noah Nelson walked to end the evening for Williams on the mound. A wild pitch moved runners to second and third before back-to-back hit batters plated another run for Falconer.

Whitfield got out of the inning with a strikeout to keep it 11-5.
Shoup reached on an error and eventually scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth, which proved to be the final run.
Falconer got two runners on in the top of the sixth inning, but Whitfield finished the game with back-to-back strikeouts.
Smith ended up with two of Falconer’s four hits.
The District 38 10-12 All-Stars championship game is at 6 p.m. in Frewsburg today.
