JCC Wrestling announces summer clinic

Jamestown Community College wrestling head coach Brian Dowdall has announced that the team will be running a summer wrestling clinic on Saturday, Aug. 5.

The wrestling clinic will be held at the Physical Education Complex located at 290 Curtis St. in Jamestown. The clinic is open to both boys and girls who will be entering seventh grade through twelfth grade. Pre-registration is open until Thursday, July 15. The cost is $70 per wrestler or $350 with six wrestlers from the same team. Walk-ups are welcome. The cost is $80 per wrestler or $400 with six wrestlers from the same team.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. The clinic begins at 9 a.m. and will run until 6 p.m. Wrestlers should bring clothing for three sessions, plus swimwear.

Session I will be instructed by Jamestown CC head coach Brian Dowdall, who will go through hand fighting and underhooks to go along with seated escapes and reversals.

Session II will be instructed by Williamsville North assistant coach Jeff Catrabone, an NCAA Division I three-time All-American at Michigan, who will go through high half-nelsons and leg levers.

Session III will be instructed by Matt Lackey, Lock Haven University women’s wrestling head coach and men’s associate head coach, who was an NCAA Division I national champion at Illinois. Lackey will go through neutral positioning, shot defense and short offense to go along with breakdowns and high leg turns.
