Tarp Skunks fall to Power 12-2
NIAGARA FALLS — For the second time in as many nights, Jamestown suffered a one-sided loss.
Billy Morris led a 14-hit attack with two hits and five RBIs to lead Niagara to a 12-2 victory over the Tarp Skunks in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest at Maglie Stadium on Thursday.
The win raised the Power’s record to 12-8 and moved it into third place in the West Division. Meanwhile, Jamestown, which lost at Batavia 9-2 on Wednesday, fell to 13-9 and dropped into fourth place.
Niagara scored in every inning but the fourth, highlighted by a six-run fifth. Steve Merkel collected three hits to lead the Power offensively, while Zach Evans, Jackson Strong, Vincent Mauro and Morris had two apiece.
Kasey Gilman (1-2) took the loss, working four innings and giving up 10 hits and eight runs. Jason Masick threw the final two innings, surrendering four hits and four runs.
Zak Fike (1-1) was the winning pitcher, allowing just two hits over six innings.
Jake Kernodle had two hits and drove in a run for Jamestown.
